Known unknowns are things we know we don't know. We know we'll die eventually, just not when.

Unknown unknowns are things we fail to imagine until we suddenly discover them. We hate our neighbour for being cold until we hear his child is dying. Unknown unknowns shift our perspective.

And yet, even though we keep encountering unknown unknowns we keep insisting that certain things will never change, that life is unfair or that something isn't possible because somebody said so.
